One of the world's true gambling heavyweights - Harrahs has entered the online space in earnest with the launch of Caesars Casino Online.
The newly launched online casino, at www.caesarscasino.com, is powered by Dragonfish, the b2b division of well known online casino operator 888.com. This licensing deal was signed a couple of months ago and it is probably fair to assume game range, banking options and support will be pretty similar to that provided by 888. The Caesars Online's affiliate program will also be operated by Ufilliates, another 888 division.
Caesars is offering a competitive sign on bonus for new players - although presently US, German and Australian players are not able to open playing accounts. In fact, visitors to caesarscasino.com from these countries are redirected to the CAESARS casino hotel page.
For players from accepted countries, comp points racked up at the online casino will likely tie into the wide gambling group program, Harrah's Total Rewards, although exactly how this will happen has not been detailed.
The entry of the world's largest gambling brand into the online space come at an interesting time. Historically a strong opponent to legalized online gambling in the United States, Harrah's through it's industry representative the American Gaming Association has in the past lobbied against a regulated online casino industry. More recently, their position in this regard has changed, and this has coincided with moves to launch online brands in Europe and position themselves for local licenses should UIGEA be repealed.
