888.com, Caesars Entertainment, PokerStars, Wnn Resorts

Published 27 Mar 2011 by Milton Shaw

In a significant vote of confidence for future regulated online gambling in the United States, Wynn Resorts has struck an online poker partnership deal with PokerStars.

Under the deal, the two companies will together create and operate the online poker website PokerStarsWynn.com after working together toward regulated federal online gambling laws in the US.

In a joint press release the companies elaborated on their mission to overturn current prohibitive bet gambling laws saying it was possible to:

"finally and conclusively define illegal internet gambling, provide law enforcement with the tools necessary to stop illegal internet gambling, protect consumers by establishing a robust regulatory environment for the safe operation of online poker by experienced operators, and establish a regime for the assessment and collection of taxes."

The PokerStars/Wynn partnership comes in the same week that Nevada gaming regulators approved the B2B deal between Caesars Entertainment and Gibraltar licensed 888.com. Under that deal, sites powered by an 888 Holdings subsidiary will operate under the Caesars brand. Although not US facing, the longer term intent will be to operate in the US market also.

That's two US casino heavyweights betting on a regulated American online gambling market in the near future.
