Poker Variations
Online poker has become very popular in recent years. Now, from the comfort of your home, you can enjoy the many variations of your favorite game and win money without ever leaving the house. It also allows you to play several types of games all in one sitting.
There are several variations of 7-card stud when played online, as it is, of course, played differently from the traditional manner. One such variation is as follows.
Each player is dealt two cards down and one card up. The first betting round begins with the highest hand showing, or the high card for the first round. Then, another card is dealt face up and another betting round begins.
This is repeated until there are four cards all face up. At that point, a final card is dealt face down for the final betting round. The ranking of the hands is the same as in a traditional online game except the five best cards are taken out of the cards each player is dealt. There are other variations on the game as well.
One variation is to allow wild cards. Another is to allow five of a kind, thus raising the stakes. There are other games played online with several variations.
Five-card stud is another variation on online poker. Played much like 7-card stud, only with five cards instead. The initial deal can vary in this type of poker, and often depends on how the players choose to play. There are a couple of ways it is usually dealt.
The dealer may start with either two down and three up, or one down, four up. It can also be dealt one down, three up, and one down. It is played exactly like 7-card stud with betting rounds held when each new card has been put down. Here, variations can be the use of wild cards, and the hand ranking is the standard for online poker.
Chicago is another variation of online poker. It is played just like 7-card stud except the high Spade in the hole splits the spot. Here, the ranking of the hands is like that of standard online poker with the best five cards being used. Wild cards and five of a kind are two variations.
Another variation of online poker is Indian. Here, two to ten players can play, and the dealing is much different from standard online poker. The initial deal is one card dealt to each player with a fine of usually $1.00. A player is automatically out if he or she looks at the card.
The game is played in a very different manner. Each player holds his or her card up so everyone else can see it. Betting then begins starting with the player to the left of the dealer. Once the betting is finished, each player looks at his or her card, and the winner takes the pot.
The deal then rotates to the left, and the game continues for one deck. Because of the way it is played, this is a game of who has the highest card. The fact that each player doesn’t know what he or she has can raise the anxiety level and make for an interesting poker game.
There are many other variations of online poker, each with a slightly different set of rules, but most are similar to the standard game. Since online poker enables players from all over the world the opportunity to play, various types of poker are often passed from one part to another. Though the rules for online poker are much the same as those for playing the game the traditional way, they may vary to some extent to accommodate the different way of playing the game.
