Titan Poker Walkthrough Tutorial 3
There are now only two red tabs we have not yet explored, the ‘Players’ and ‘Side Games’ tabs. Clicking on the red tab labeled ‘Side Games’ we are presented with a remarkably different window. Instead of an information table we are presented with a choice of nine games: ‘Roulette Pro’, ‘Poker Three’, ‘Gold Rally’, ‘Blackjack’, ‘Deuces Wild’, ‘Deuces Wild 4-line’, ‘Casino Hold’em’, ‘Caribbean Poker’, and ‘Craps’.
Some of these, like roulette, blackjack, and craps, are fairly self-explanatory. Other games, like Poker Three or Caribbean poker, may be unfamiliar. All of Titan Poker’s side games are described and explained under ‘help’. The help menu is accessed with the like named silver tab at the bottom of the main Titan Poker window (also called the ‘lobby’). Clicking on this you see two menu choices: ‘Using Poker’ and ‘Side Games’. Clicking ‘Side Games’ opens a list of all nine side games; clicking on any of them will give you the information you need to play the game, including game rules and software instructions.
The ‘Players’ tab opens up a table with three columns: “Name”, “Status”, and “Room”. This table will be blank until you enter a search parameter. You can search for any player based upon two letters. For example, if you do a player search for ‘kl’ you will get a list of all players with the letter sequence ‘kl’ in their name.
Now that we have explored the software a little bit and are satisfied, let’s see what sort of sign-up promotions Titan Poker has to offer and maybe learn more about the online poker room itself – just to make sure it is someplace we feel safe with sensitive information and perhaps some of our money. Click on the silver ‘promotions’ tab at the bottom of the Titan Poker lobby and the promotions page of Titan Poker’s website will open in your web browser.
At this moment there is a 50% sign-up bonus up to $200, which means if we deposit $50 into our player account on sign-up we will receive $25 free. This sounds good, however there is (and this is usually the case with such sign-up bonuses) a catch. The deposit bonus is not given up-front. Rather, it is given only after you have played enough ‘raked’ hands at one of their online tables.
For those not in the know, the ‘rake’ is how an online poker room makes money. In this case, Titan Poker takes a small percentage from every pot that exceeds the specified amount for a particular table’s stakes. This is why, if you watch a table in play, the winner of the pot always wins a little less than the number given as the ‘total pot’ during the hand. With Titan Poker’s sign-up bonus you do eventually get the extra cash, but it is contingent on spending time at money tables and giving them some rake. According to Titan Poker’s ‘house rules’ page you can contact online support to find out the number of raked hands you have played. The rake at Titan Poker does not exceed 5%, which is industry standard.
Before activating an account with any online poker room we also need to see if the room is accredited. Scrolling to the bottom of any of the pages on Titan Poker’s website we see they are accredited by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. This is a reputable gaming commission and accreditation from them means Titan Poker was assessed as having met certain essential security, and ethical requirements according to the guidelines available from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s website, www. http://www.kahnawake.com/gamingcommission/. In other words, Titan Poker is a ‘safe and secure’ location for online gambling and no ‘fly-by-night’ operation.
This all looks good. There is, however, one last item worth referencing before opening any new online poker room account. Poke around with your favorite search engine for terms like ‘rakeback + [name of poker room]’. Doing this should lead you to a number of third party websites running ‘rakeback’ promotions with the poker room in question. Our search turns up a good offer through www.rakebrain.com which will return 35% of the money taken from us via Titan Poker’s rake on a weekly basis. This offer is activated, usually, by entering a particular bonus code when activating an account –in our case it will be “RAKEBRAIN”. Simply follow the instructions.
