The one-time accountant from Tennessee won the PokerStars World Series of Poker satellite tournament and then went on to win the World Series of Poker's main event. Chris then defeated a field of 60 players to win the $10,000 buy-in to the World Series of Poker's main event, the No Limits Texas Hold 'em Tournament.

The 2005 World Series of Poker finished after a marathon final round, the winner taking the runner up out in the sixth hand of one on one play. The 2005 World Series of Poker winner that day was Joseph Hachem. Joe Hachem began his career in poker after 13 years as a chiropractor in Australia. Johnny Chan is one of the giants of poker. Known as the "Great Wall of China" and "The Orient Express", Johnny made his name in poker by winning two consecutive World Series of Poker titles in 1987 and 1988. He placed second in the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament in 2005, coming back from having $20,000 in chips left out of $3,200,000.

Phil Hellmuth is ranked among the best of the best. Having won his 10th gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker tournament, Phil has never been better. He beat out 754 other players to take the No Limit Hold 'em Rebuy Tournament prize. Phil is known as "the Brat" because of his age and his attitude when he began to play and win tournaments. His style of play has won him both fame and disdain. Many players have commented on his lack of respect for the game and his skill at cards in general. Some have speculated, however, that his behavior is part of his image and largely purposeful.
