Blackjack Strategies....

Blackjack is not one of the most popular gaming activities for no reason. The fact is that with the right system in place and the proper strategies, your odds of beating the house are as good in it as with just about any other game. Whether it is online or in person, you need to have a strategy going in that will work for you and that you are ready to stick with.

Perhaps the best known strategy with blackjack is card counting. Card counting is keeping track of cards that have been played versus what is left in the deck so that you can more accurately predict what may come up. There are a couple of problems with it as a strategy, though. For one, since online blackjack shuffles after every hand, you cannot do it online at all. It simply won’t work. Secondly, it takes a lot of time and practice to count cards anyway. Consider a few more simple strategies.

A simple strategy to keep in mind that will work online or in a casino has to do with your betting. A general rule of thumb is to never bet more than one thirtieth of what you are willing to lose on a single hand. This allows you to lose a lot and still have time to turn things around. If you happen to win a lot, though, you can bet more, just keep a little bit of the thirtieth rule in mind as you go, though.

Whether you are online or in a casino, there are some simple strategies you should always follow. For instance, if the dealer has 7 or less up, stand on a hard 17, and always take hits until you have 17 or better when the dealer is showing ten. Additionally, you should always split aces or 8’s, but you should never ever split 4, 5, or 6. These are basic strategies that will work online or in  brick and mortar casino, because there is no counting involved, just common a strategic system.

Another strategy that works well, particularly at home, is to print off a blackjack strategy card. These cards, available online, in casinos, and pretty much anywhere you find blackjack information, will help you know when to hit, when to stand, when to split, and when to double down. Simply following the card puts the game’s odds almost at one to one. That means the house only ever so slightly has an advantage. So if you don’t have the time to learn all the strategies and tips, then at least print off a strategy card and use it.

Another fairly simple tip that can possibly make things better for you is to know what you are doing with soft hands. The basic rule of thumb for soft hands is to play them until they are hard hands. Though you can only double on the first two cards, the rest of the strategy should remain the same as long as your hand is soft. As for hard hands, make sure you have a strategy for them going in. Don’t play hunches, play your system, and you will have much better results in the long run.

As you can see, blackjack strategy is varied. A system is important whether you are playing on line or in a casino. Additionally, you should make sure you are playing your system and not your “gut,” which can betray you. Keep simple strategy in mind, don’t try to count online blackjack cards, and make sure you know what you are doing with both soft and hard hands as well. With such strategies in mind, you will find that you can do okay in both online and casino blackjack.
