Titan Poker Walkthrough Tutorial 4

Having made sure we are satisfied with the software as well as the look of the tables, tournaments, and side games offered by this poker room; having made sure the poker room is accredited, and having informed ourselves as to how the sign-up bonus functions as well as any rakeback cross-promotions, we are at long last ready to create a Titan Poker account. So far, any time we have opened the Titan Poker software two windows have opened up: a large window with all the tabs, tables, and functions (the lobby); and a much smaller ‘Titan Poker login’ window.

The login window gives us four options: ‘LOGIN’, ‘CANCEL’, ‘Create Account’ and ‘Forgot Password’. For now the only options that apply to us are ‘cancel’ or ‘create account’. Click on ‘create account’. This takes you to a ‘new account registration’ page. Here you must provide first and last name, and an email address. You must also choose a password, and then the bonus code you found when looking for your rakeback deal. Click ‘create’ and if you completed all of the fields correctly you will be given your new username, which will be a rather long combination of numbers and a ‘TTR’ prefix. Write this down somewhere.

After you click ‘continue’ another window will open asking for your ‘Nickname’ and your geographic location by country and state/city. Your nickname is extremely important. It is the name all other Titan Poker players will come to know you by. You can try and see if your ‘real’ name is available, you can name yourself after one of your favorite characters from a book or film, or you can come up with an evocative name all your own. Once you have done this simply click ‘okay’. If there is a problem with your nickname the software will
(annoyingly) not tell explicitly you what it is, but will simply remind you that the nickname must be between 4 and 16 characters long. It does not tell you that your nickname cannot contain any spaces and perhaps certain punctuation marks.

When the software finally accepts the nickname we are prompted to ‘make our first deposit’. This is, in fact, just a ‘suggestion’, and pressing ‘ok’ will get rid of it until your next login. Looking down at the lower left corner of the main Titan Poker window we see our ‘current balance’ reads “FUN $2,000.00”. (Note, if you are not logged in to your account the balance will read “offline”.) We can now freely enjoy any of the play money tables or games. If you do choose to deposit real money you can do so by clicking on the silver ‘cashier’ tab at the bottom of the screen. If you have any customer service or quality assurance issues you will want to use the ‘contact us’ table just next to it. When/if you run short on ‘FUN $’ select the ‘my account’ tab in the lower right hand corner of the Titan Poker window and then select ‘reset play money’.

Before (finally!) sitting down at a play money table, let’s open the silver ‘options’ tab at the bottom of the screen. Here we are presented with some choices that allow us to personalize our Titan Poker experience, including game speed and volume. It is probably a good idea to leave everything except your choice of avatar at the default setting –for now. Later as you grow more comfortable with the table window you can adjust things to your liking. You can tell an option is turned on if the box next to it is colored red. Two options to note right away:

  1. ‘Show avatars’ – if this box is marked you and the other players will be represented at the table by animated figures –avatars. You can select from one of ten avatars with the ‘choose your avatar’ function just to the right.

  2. ‘Auto login’ will automatically log in to your account when you run the Titan Poker software. This reduces your security by allowing anybody at your computer to login with your account. On the other hand it saves you time of confirming your login every time.

There are also options to disable table chat or to view chat as speech bubbles displayed above the ‘speaking’ avatar. If you are brand new to poker the ‘view hand strength’ option might be a helpful crutch for your first few sessions.
